    new collection rules

Is anyone else dissappointed in having to get an affadavit notarized to mail in the labels?  This is an expense our small Catholic school cannot afford.  We're fighting just to keep our doors open.  So much for free equipment for the kids.

I think our school secretary may be a notary, so I am not too concerned.  If not, I will be asking around to see what everyone else is doing for this.

    Re: new collection rules

I have to admit that I was a little bit shocked simply because it was so different from last year, but I sent out an e-mail to our fundraising group and found a husband and a grandma that are both notaries.  I'm also going to check with our school as it could be that someone is a notary there (we're a small Catholic school, too!)  Also, some libraries offer notary public services for free, you might want to check there, and maybe even a city clerk or village clerk?

What I was even more surprised by was the requirement to bundle the labels into groups of 50.  We had already counted all of our labels (already up to 7,000!) and packed them into gallon ziplock in groups of 300-400 so that they would be ready to go when our welcome kit arrived.  So, today we counted them out again, but this time put them in smaller ziplock in groups of 50.  Not a fun task, but we'll know better for the next time we count!  I've already filled up the five bags that they sent with the welcome kit and I've requested the next set of bags, which I'm sure we'll fill up right away with all the labels we still have (we only fit approximately 800 labels into each bag that they sent).

Good luck to you -- I hope that you find a notary that will offer their services for free!

I'm a little dissappointed over having to have it notarized.  However, I'm going to explain this program and what it does to a local attorney and I'm sure he will not charge anything to help his community.
